This is my good friend Luis Guillermo Martinez Salazar (Memo for short)
from Santa Martha in Colombia. He built this beautiful wooden RG after
seeing mine.
His barrel is 90cm from roller axle to mechanism. His spear is 130cm x
6.5mm. His 16mm rubbers are 30cm long and stretch to 3.5 times their
rest length.
The picture above shows the front part of the gun from the
side. The bracket and hooks below form an adjustable anchor for the end
of the rubber. It is adjustable for softer or harder shots.
Above is detail of the muzzle. The rubber is in the unloaded state.
Note the roller axle has been moved backwards. This prevents the
rubbers from shooting over the muzzle and hanging loose. The stainless
steel nozzle keeps the dyneema whishbone above the spear for easy
loading.
Above is detail of the middle of the gun. Along the side is a
mid-barrel rest hook, for loading. This allows you to hook the
whishbone into the hook and then reposition the butt on your chest to
complete loading. Notice that the hook is folded flat after loading.
Above is a view of the handle. The stainless steel mechanism was made
by Memo.
This is inside the mechanism.
This is the half-loaded gun with the rubbers on the rest hook. Note the
extra stabilizing fins bolted to the front of the barrel. This corrects
the vertical recoil (kick-up) tendency that this design of RG seems to
suffer from.
Now go on to see Memo's new refined RG II.
